From Stonehenge to Great Yarmouth

The original plan for Saturday was to visit Stonehenge and Bath on a school excursion, similar to the Canterbury/Dover trip, but last Tuesday the trip was canceled. When I asked why, I was told the tour leader was sick. To salvage our much needed break, I looked for other things we could do. Things that were far enough away to make us feeling like it was an adventure, but close enough where we could do it in a day. We ended up choosing the SeaLife aquarium in Great Yarmouth.

SeaLife Aquarium

The aquarium was a great deal of fun. We learned a tremendous amount about the animals on exhibit. Sadly, the Penguins were not in residence, but we did get a free ticket to go back and see them when they return. I felt that was a nice gesture on the part of the aquarium. I think we will definitely do our best to take advantage of that.

Exhibit A
I'm an extremely melodramatic person, so there were plenty of opportunities for Veronica and I, mostly me, to be silly and act like a kid! I may have to be an adult, but that doesn't mean I can't hang on to my child like enthusiasm for things. That is very much one of my goals in life. So when I was presented with that chance, I took it with gusto! See Exhibit A.

After the aquarium we walked around Great Yarmouth. There wasn't much to see, as almost everything was closed. This is mostly because they are a beach town and, therefore, are only open during the warmer months which does make sense. When we do go back, I would like to visit the Britannia Pier. From the looks of it, it's very much like the Santa Monica Pier, minus the Ferris Wheel and Roller Coaster. Aside from wanting to visit the pier, and wanting to see the penguins, I kinda promised Veronica a game of mini golf, so we have to go back.

I FOUND NEMO!

The only downsides to our trip were the wind and the bus ride back to Norwich. The wind was so strong it made it near impossible to spend anytime on the beach itself. It was just too intense which in turn made it so cold. I hadn't been that cold since waiting for the bus in Cambridge. As for the bus ride back, the driver whipped that thing around every curve at break neck speed. We were so nauseous by the time we arrived at the station in Norwich, I thought we would hurl right there in the parking lot.

Not sure what the next adventure will be just yet, but stay tuned!
